TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Fayette County. If you’re heading out today, you might be wondering if we skipped winter and went straight to spring! With temperatures climbing into the low 70s just in time for Christmas Eve, it is a beautiful and surprisingly mild week to finish those last-minute errands at The Avenue or enjoy a stroll through Trilith.
While Christmas is a season of incredible celebration, it’s no secret that the weight of expectations and the relentless demands on our time can often feel like a burden. It may sound counterintuitive, but there is something profound about finding joy in the "sacrifices" we make for others during this busy time.
When I talk about finding joy, I am not just referring to the fleeting feeling of being happy or the temporary high of a holiday party. I am talking about a deeper, more enduring spiritual gift. A sense of peace that remains even when the schedule is packed and the stress is high. If you’re looking for that kind of anchor this year, I invite you to pause and join one of the local Christmas Eve services listed below.
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
— Chad Stroud

Trilith LIVE Announces January Grand Opening
Excitement is building in Fayetteville as officials for Trilith LIVE announced that the massive 530,000-square-foot entertainment complex is set for its official grand opening season beginning January 15, 2026. Designed as a regional epicenter for arts and culture, the facility features a state-of-the-art 2,800-seat theater equipped with massive LED walls, an immersive sound system, and a full broadcast suite. The venue is already hiring for hundreds of new positions to support its upcoming slate of live performances, corporate conventions, and community events. With its first live show, Gabby’s Dollhouse Live!, just weeks away, the complex is poised to become a major economic and cultural driver for Fayette County. GTC Trilith Cinemas Officially Opens
The wait for a "next-generation" movie experience in Fayetteville is over as the new Georgia Theatre Company (GTC) cinema at Trilith is now officially open to the public. Positioned as the centerpiece of the Trilith LIVE entertainment district, the luxury nine-screen theater features a revolutionary Samsung Onyx LED screen, the largest of its kind in the United States, and a GTX Premium Large Format auditorium for immersive audio. With full-service bars and a sleek, modern design, the cinema is already welcoming guests for the holiday movie season ahead of the broader district’s grand opening in January.
Student Meals Covered By Charitable Neighbors
Fayette County families received a heartwarming holiday gift this week as local donations successfully cleared more than $6,000 in outstanding student meal balances across the school system. This community-driven effort ensures that local students can head into the winter break without the burden of meal debt. District officials expressed deep gratitude for the "angel donors" whose generosity directly impacts the well-being of students and supports the nutritional programs in our local schools.

CIVIL NEWS
Because it is Christmas week, local government activity in Fayette County is primarily focused on holiday closures and meeting cancellations. Fayette County government offices will be closed from Monday, December 22, through Friday, December 26, to observe the Christmas holidays. Similarly, Peachtree City has officially canceled its Planning Commission meeting originally scheduled for Monday, December 22, as well as the Transportation Advisory Group meeting on Tuesday, December 23. Residents should also note that city council work sessions for the remainder of the month have been cleared from the calendar.
