TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Fayette County.

Happy Presidents' Day, I hope you were able to take the day off. In case you didn't know, Presidents' Day actually started as a celebration of George Washington's birthday on February 22nd. It became a federal holiday back in 1885, and was later moved to the third Monday in February as part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. Over the years it's evolved into a day honoring all U.S. presidents.

I sure am enjoying this warmer weather that's started to roll in. After the January we had (remember those winter storms?), it feels like the county is hitting its stride heading into spring. I know that pesky groundhog predicted more winter, but here in the South I prefer my own animal metrics. I was walking to my truck the other day to grab some lunch when I saw a round of robins scurrying through the grass looking for worms. That's all the proof I need that spring is right around the corner.

Peachtree City Approves AI-Powered Phone and Chat system for Residents

Peachtree City Council approved a budget amendment for Readyly, an AI-powered system that will answer resident questions through the city's phone system and online chat. The move comes after city staff identified service gaps outside regular business hours. The platform, which introduces itself as "Scout," can respond in any language at any time, including after hours and weekends, and relies only on official city information. The first-year cost is $18,000, prorated for the remainder of the fiscal year.
