TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Fayette County. There is a strange, blurry stretch of time right after New Year’s Day where the reality of the "real world" starts to settle back in. It’s that awkward week of finding your rhythm again. Getting the kids back into their school routines, diving back into the work grind, and finally remembering what day of the week it actually is.
If you’re feeling a bit of that post-holiday fog, you aren’t alone. This week’s Fayette Flyer is designed to be your compass as we navigate this transition together. While we’re all adjusting to our daily activities, the weather is giving us a gentle start with unseasonably warm temperatures, making those school drop-offs and afternoon errands just a little bit brighter. Let’s take a breath and ease into this routine together. Here is what you need to know to stay ahead of the curve this week in our community.

THE DIGEST
Kenwood Park Expansion Boosted by $100k Donation
Fayette County’s North end is set for a major upgrade following a generous $100,000 donation from Georgia Power. The Board of Commissioners officially accepted the funds this week, which are earmarked specifically for enhancements at Kenwood Park. While the full list of amenities is still being finalized, the county plans to use the boost to improve recreation spaces and ensure the park remains a premier destination for families in Fayetteville and beyond.
"Noon Year" Draws Hundreds to The Avenue
Peachtree City rang in 2026 a few hours early this past week with its popular "Noon Year’s Eve" celebration. The event at The Avenue Peachtree City saw record-breaking attendance, with local families filling the green space for a mid-day balloon drop and dance party. It’s become a staple for parents who want their kids to experience the holiday excitement without the midnight bedtime, and organizers are already looking at ways to expand the footprint for next year's festivities.
DDA Board Vacancy Announced
The City of Fayetteville has opened applications to fill a critical vacancy on the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) / Main Street Tourism Board. The appointed individual will serve the remainder of an unexpired term ending December 31, 2028.
