Good morning, Fayette County,
I was running errands the other day and stopped at a few big box stores around town. I expected ghosts, black cats, and skeletons. What I didn’t expect was Santa Claus and his reindeer staring back at me.
Christmas lights, Christmas pajamas, giant inflatable yard decorations. The whole North Pole had apparently arrived while I was still thinking about Halloween candy.
I love Christmas, but we’ve still got a few months to go. Personally, I don’t feel the urge to put a snowman in the yard until the day after Thanksgiving.
Maybe it’s just me, but can we let the trick or treaters have their moment first?

Fayette Samaritans Calls for October Pantry Help

Toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap and feminine care products are also on its list. Donations of food, clothing and money support people throughout Fayette County. The organization needs volunteers as well as supplies. Helpers typically spend one morning a week, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the office, clothes closet or pantry. Couriers are needed to pick up food once or twice a week. Donations can be dropped off at 126 Hickory Road in Fayetteville. To ask about volunteering, call 770-719-2707.
Londyn Allen Wins National Entrepreneurship Gold
Fayette County High School student Londyn Allen earned gold and first place in the entrepreneurship competition at the 2026 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America National Leadership Conference. Allen also attended leadership workshops, visited the FCCLA Expo and connected with students from other states. Her school’s chapter was part of a 170-member Georgia delegation at a conference that drew more than 10,000 members, advisers and guests. The national honor recognizes Allen’s work in a competition built around skills students can carry into business and careers. Her result adds a first-place finish to Fayette County High’s FCCLA program and gives other students in the chapter an example of where their work can take them.
Park Improvements Bring Temporary Closures in Fayetteville
Families who use two Fayetteville parks will need to plan around construction this fall. Church Street Park is scheduled to close September 30 while crews install utilities for a new restroom building. The city expects the work to take four to six weeks, weather permitting. Both playground areas at City Center Park are scheduled to close October 5. Crews will replace the junior playground and add features to the play area for older children. That project is also expected to take four to six weeks. The rest of City Center Park will remain open. Patriot Park, Dickson Springs Park and The Ridge Nature Area are available for families seeking other outdoor spaces while the work is underway.
