TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Fayette County. I hope you have your glass ready and the lyrics of Auld Lang Syne memorized. There is so much energy and momentum in our community as we step into 2026. While change can sometimes feel daunting, there is an incredible amount of good taking root all around us. I launched the Fayette Flyer just last month, and the growth we’ve seen in such a short time has been truly amazing. It’s a testament to the fact that Fayette County is a community that genuinely cares about its neighbors and its future. Thank you for coming along on this journey with me. I can’t wait to see what we build together this year. Happy New Year!

THE DIGEST

The “Walk for Peace” Pilgrimage Enters Fayette County

If you happen to spot a group of saffron-clad monks trekking through Peachtree City tomorrow morning, you haven't accidentally wandered onto a movie set. These travelers are part of a nearly two dozen-strong group of Buddhist monks from Fort Worth, Texas. They are currently on a grueling 120-day, 2,300-mile "Walk for Peace" that began back in October. They started in Texas and have already walked through Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. They just crossed the Georgia line at West Point on the 26th and have been making their way through LaGrange, Hogansville, and Sharpsburg. They are headed all the way to Washington, D.C., where they plan to arrive in mid-February. They eat only one meal a day (usually before noon) and often sleep outdoors under trees along their route. If you see them on the golf cart paths or the side of the road, feel free to give them a friendly Fayette County wave.

Spring Groundbreaking Set for Fayetteville’s Newest Hotel

Fayetteville’s skyline is officially set for a significant lift following the City Council’s approval of a new five-story hotel at the Villages at Lafayette. In a 3–2 vote on Thursday, December 18, 2025, the council passed Ordinance No. 25-O-31, paving the way for a 117-room Home2 Suites by Hilton at 110 Meeting Place Drive. The developer, Fayetteville Premier Lodging, LLC, aims to break ground in late Spring 2026, with construction expected to last approximately 18 months. This addition will bring the development’s total capacity to 310 rooms, specifically designed to serve the needs of the nearby film industry and medical professionals.
